The law is continuing to develop rapidly in the field of compulsory purchase and compensation. The Supreme Court's recent decision in the Sainsbury's case has highlighted the need for even greater care in preparing and making a CPO. The Tribunal's recent decisions in Urban Edge, Persimmon Homes and Newall have continued to adapt the statutory provisions relating to planning assumptions and scheme disregards. The House of Lords' decision in Spirerose has emphasised the importance of certificates of appropriate alternative development. Large scale acquisitions such as those for the 2012 Olympics & Legacy and Crossrail are producing complex legal and valuation questions in relation to topics such as business disturbance.
This seminar will address these important issues in one afternoon, with short, focussed sessions on each topic - ideal for busy practitioners. The seminar should be of benefit to all those working in this field, including acquiring authority officers, solicitors, surveyors, planners, accountants and developers.
CONFERENCE PROGRAMME
The conference will be held in The Luncheon Room at the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple Treasury building between 2-6pm (registration over coffee and juice from 1.30pm) on Monday 18th October 2010.
The conference will be followed by a drinks reception at 6pm at Francis Taylor Building (next door to the Inner Temple Treasury building), where delegates can discuss topics of interest with the Conference Speakers listed above and other leading practitioners including Charles George QC, Andrew Tait QC, Craig Howell Williams QC, Richard Glover QC and Douglas Edwards QC.
Places are limited and by invitation only. The charge for this seminar is £50 + VAT per delegate, with a special rate of three delegates for the price of two. FTB is automatically registered with the SRA for CPD hours and this conference carries 3.5 CPD hours.
